25 out of 100: Lots of Black men never heard of the term patriarchy, I didn’t until about 4-5 years ago. When I googled it I still didn’t get the big deal, now I do, so let’s talk about it. When we are talking about patriarchy we are talking about the ways in which our culture gives ALL MEN more institution, systemic, and social power over women(ESPECIALLY BLACK WOMEN). The first thing a Black man will say to debate this is “what about racism? Cops shoot us down everyday.”Yes cops do, and yes racism is an issue. I’ll keep this short and simple. —> I’m a Black man so I’m still disadvantaged through racism, BUT I’m still privileged through patriarchy. That’s an intersection that operates together to create unique experiences. Does this make sense?
